We are building an ecology center and a village for the stewards of the space
The Ecology Center includes:
-a greenhouse for starting seeds
-garden beds for growing food and medicine
-a tool share for the neighborhood
-a seed library of free seeds
-a rainwater catchment system
-a cooking demonstration kitchen
We've come together as free people to create a model of sustainable community living.
Through the resources of the ecology center, we have the goal of growing fresh produce locally.
We are interested in sharing an ecological, holistic way of gardening and are giving an example of the themes and principles we wish for people to adopt. To accomplish this, we will host teach-ins, skill shares, workshops, and demonstration systems.
We are organized around holistic living and wish to expand on themes of common space, sustainability, and regenerative ecology that Kezar Gardens and the HANC Recycling Center has begun to put into practice over the last 36 years. The Recycling Center, Community Gardens, and Native Plant Nursery are being evicted on January 3d. We invite you to come and join in creating and defending these spaces that are under attack. This place has a history of values that includes growing our own food locally, creating valuable work, and changing the perception of ourselves and our concepts of ownership. While we address community living with the Stewards' Village, we seek to expand on interacting with the neighborhood in this space and organizing the community around sustainable living.
In the next three days we wish for volunteers to come out, live, work, and be part of this evolving community space. We are here to ensure the open access of this neighborhood space and protect the community gardens. Contact us at: [email protected] - 201-388-2367
